WALK IN YOUR OWN SHOES

THE COBBLER

Earlier today, I stopped a cobbler to help fix my shoes. These shoes were a gift and definitely a gorgeous pair! Sadly, they were super tight at the sides(my foot area)

Now, I had thought about it several times and felt I could handle fixing the shoes myself ( I have a history of DIY experiments, don't ask 😂).

So, I tried and tried every method, either way, nothing worked. I had worked so hard at it. I finally decided to hand it over to this Cobbler. (I had to entrust the life of my shoes to him😂)

Fast forward to the process...
I got into a chit chat with this guy and decided to mention to him that I had tried fixing it myself. He blurted out with a very wide smile

"Madam, na because say e no be your work" ( madam, it's because the job is not yours to do)

I returned the smile and even laughed a little, but his statement struck a chord in me. How often do we try so hard to do the "work" meant for others, to run their race and loose focus of ours?

How much time do we waste struggling with a gift or talent that has not been entrusted into our hands? Doing things just because we see others thriving in that area of life, without having the skill to make it work.

I think its time we shine in our own spotlight, pursue things we were born to do, put our best foot forward.
Don't you think so too?
