"CAN I HELP YOU?"
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a first step, they say. We start out on this journey, excited, enthusiastic and hopeful but then then life hits pretty hard and we start to wonder where we “missed it”. At the beginning of the year, I was excited; about what greatness the year held (it still does; just in an unusual way). I started off on a great note! Just when I was planning how to stay more in touch with my extroverted side; go out more, explore; COVID happened! Gosh! It came like an earthquake; sudden and unexpected.
Soon enough, I was in the Netflix gang, I started sleeping in. Then I thought, all the books I never got to read; this would be a good time to catch-up. I felt this would be over in no time, so why not make the best use of this time before work and life went back to normal!
Then what seemed like a temporary situation quickly turned into a rising death toll. It was scary, unsure, and unsafe. Life as we knew it slowly started to withdraw itself; like a snail into its shell. Normal habits we developed quickly became crimes we dared not commit. Things switched up real quick! I soon started to talk to myself, as cliché as it sounds; "There's no time to waste time"
Along with the harsh realities of life, pressure has forced us into things. It has now become ‘overwhelming evidence’ that we can no longer ignore or push aside; but like they say “at all at all na im bad pass”. We realize now, how much of God we need, how much love, how much support from each other we need at this time and beyond. Look around for people that need your help and offer to do whatever you can. Seek to serve people in any way that you have the resources to.
Slow down and turn to God. Look at the things you do have in your life and be grateful for them. Don’t lose hope! You have already come this far! So, all I’m saying is, get to know yourself, master what it is you’re good at and then turn around to use it for the benefit of other people. That would be a pretty great way to spend this time and also become a better person in the long run.
